Brother and Sisters in Christ,
I thank you for your prayers and patience as our parish works to formulate a plan for our religious education program.
As we embark upon a new liturgical year of faith formation at Immaculate Conception in the era of COVID, we would like to welcome you back. Our parish has re-opened in a modified capacity.
We regret that we will not be able to sustain large numbers of students or parents on the premises as we have done in the past.
This year we will offer somewhat of a fusion of onsite and online learning. Onsite will be available for a limited number of students, which will be based on a first come first serve basis totaling (10-12 students only) when possible.
Online religious instruction, via ZOOM or Google Meet – will consist of a family-based religious education that will take place in the home under the authority of the pastor through the direction of the parish religious education director. The faith will be taught in the home by the parent/guardian, who is commissioned by the pastor to be the catechist for his/her own children.
The parent-catechist and the child/children are guided and supported by the parish religious education structure throughout the instruction. The instruction consists of 90 minutes a week for 30 weeks for our Parish. The schedule will run September 27th, 2020 through May 23rd, 2021
Every month, the parent will meet with the director of religious education and is prepared to teach for the coming weeks. At the same time, the child meets with a parish catechist to review and strengthen what has been learned at home.
The decision to accept the custodial parent/guardian’s application to participate in the Family-Based Religious Education Approach is made by the pastor in consultation with the parish director of religious education.
So, what will the year look like?
Parents will attend parent workshops related to general Adult Faith Formation topics which are structured to renew their own faith and assist them in leading their children as they grow in the knowledge of their Catholic faith.
Children will attend grade-level classes during the time their parents are in their workshop. They will meet with a trained catechist who will review and monitor their lessons.
In between the monthly sessions, parents will work with their children on 2-3 lessons in their grade level curriculum.
Mass Attendance: Attending Mass is central to our Catholic Faith. It is expected that all families in our Religious Education program attend Mass weekly and on Holy Days of Obligation. As part of the FBRE program.
The tuition rate is to cover the cost of textbooks and supplies.
Tuition | 1st Child | 2nd Child | 3rd Child |
$60.00 | $40.00 | $20.00 |
If more than one child is being registered, tuition will be discounted. Registration will close and the final payment will be due on October 25, 2020. You can send payment to
