We would like to remind the faithful that there is
no requirement to come back to Mass once the churches are open. Those who are at greater risk of COVID-19 (those older than 65 or who have underlying health conditions) are cautioned not to come for Mass. His eminence has dispensed us from an obligation to attend Sunday Mass at this time.
Masks MUST be worn at ALL times.
Weekday Masses have already begun as of Monday, June 22nd at 7:00 AM and 8:30 AM. Parishioners must leave
immediately after Mass so the church can be sanitized.
We will
resume Sunday Masses beginning on Saturday, July 4, 2020, with our
regular 5:30 PM Mass. On Sunday, we will have our regular Sunday schedule. There will be an
added Spanish Mass at 5:00 PM to supplement the 11:00 AM Mass.
Strict cutoff will be when 25% of the church capacity is reached. According to the Archdiocese, this did not turn out to be a problem with the churches that have already reopened, since attendance was low in most churches on the first day back.
There will be
no use of the elevator due to the social distancing guidelines to be 6-feet apart.
When the church reopens on July 4,
all access must be through the black stairs on the side of the church. There will be no access to the church through the rectory.
Members of the congregation
must be seated 6-feet apart from each other in all directions. There are designated places for people to sit, so please check the signs on the pews. Again,
masks must be worn.
Large choirs are not recommended at this time. A cantor and organist must be used. Hymnals and Missalettes have been removed from the pews. Online worship aids accessible via smartphone may be used. Music that is commonly known may be selected, including popular hymns and Mass settings, as well as psalms with a common refrain.
There will be
no entrance procession and there will be
no greeting of people after the Mass. The
offertory procession is omitted. There is
no physical exchange of the sign of peace.
Distribution of Communion:
Priests and Eucharistic Ministers must wear a mask when distributing communion.
Communion may not be distributed with gloves nor may communion be received if a member of the faithful is wearing gloves.
There is no distribution of the Precious Blood.
Holy Water fonts will remain empty.
All parish activities are canceled until further notice.
Non-essential gatherings are suspended including post-Mass gatherings and refreshments, etc.
No paper bulletins will be distributed. Please check the
parish website or the
Facebook page for announcements and information.
